Our proposal for a 33 unit CLT affordable housing building in Carabanchel, Madrid (with yellow awnings), has a maximized volume that steps down the steep street to comply with height and setback regulations, fitting in perfectly with pre-existing buildings and planning in the neighborhood.

In order to also propose a feasible sustainable construction that addresses the reduced budget, we optimized vertical communication to one core, generating access galleries facing east, that would at the same time be a space of encounter and an extended living room for the neighbors of the building.

The prososal has a front and a back, or rather two faces, that respond sensitively to orientation. Facing the street, a less permeable urban scale elevation whereas the interior elevation is more protected and green.
