Surrounded by nature, the proposed volume with its clear and concise addition to the landscape stands in respectful dialogue with the Roccamandolfi Castle. The simple and pure form of the building’s architecture is characterized by a concrete plinth that seems to have grown out of the ground on top of which stands a wooden and glazed pavilion carved by light and shadow. All the programmatic requirements are housed in this single longitudinal element that defines in one clear gesture the New Castle Resort and because of its compactness invites the guests to discover the untouched surrounding landscape. It is this dichotomy between the added artifice in plain sight and the ruin of the Roccamandolfi Castle, the rigidity of the form set against the ever changing landscape that is the essential element necessary to define and give a new identity to the site.
