The beer cellar is characterised by it’s industrial past and the regular grid structure suggests the plan was organised in to well-defined spaces. Our proposal looks to divide the cellar along the north-south axis in order to create 5 uniform spaces.

The building also holds a strong relationship with the context, road and the «Villa Zarri» garden. The main driving force behind our proposal is not to demolish the existing framework but to enhance the building and add new concrete walls that will formally define the space.

In a central position, our strategy aims to celebrate the great entrance hall. It will no longer be a temporary reception area but a large resting place that will welcome visitors and control the flow of people through the building.

The beer shop, adjacent to the production area, will create a direct relationship between the producer and consumer, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in to the process of the manufacture whilst being able to enjoy the final product.

Central to the programme, the restaurant is a multi-functional space allowing indoor/outdoor dining where customers can taste local delicacies and discover the flavours of the millennial product, beer.
The existing height of the building allows for the creation of a new mezzanine floor, intended for experiential/laboratory activity and beer tasting sessions.

The new space will open up the opportunity for ‘new’ views, predominantly in the north area of the scheme. We are proposing to strip back part of the roof in order to create a large terrace area and enhance the connection to the park and landscape of Castel Maggiore.
