Could we create density in the urban context generating a sense of belonging and community?

In the Fyllingsdalen housing project, a meeting point between the heterogeneous urban intertwining – shopping center, high-rise blocks, and detached houses, is able to propose a solution. The project meets the problems of the plot through two complementary characters: a dense typology with a dynamic profile next to a new urban axis and a landscape profile with soft transitions to the housing community.

The discussion of transforming the urban context in the Fyllingsdalen housing project led to a proposal of a new urban axis. This urban logic reflects the obvious challenges of the plot, the axis responds to a scale of future urban projects and makes it also possible to create an acoustic damper for the inner part of the plot. In the landscape, the natural topography of the place creates a play of small channels that collect rainwater and works with a range of spaces and
vegetation on different scales.

We concentrate the water in the center of our space to create a visible expression that is accessible to all and can have a positive impact on the biodiversity in the area. One can enjoy large squares and smaller streets, as well as informal green areas, terraces, and ramps The urban areas shall promote freedom and security with a focus on balancing public and private spaces in a solid manner. The residents of the project and the surrounding areas will be able to enjoy a natural atmosphere on a domestic scale.
