Our proposal is intended to reflect the heritage of the urban planning and architectural development of the city and to consider the character of the historical environment. The traditional plots in the historical city follow a typical pattern, a precise alignment of the built volumes in linear streets. In contrast to this clear structure, the urban plots internally grow by the juxtaposition of volumes, courtyards and multiple interior spaces. Our proposal tries to understand the city in that way.

Urban inclusion is based in a closed façade to the outside and an open building to the inside (fairytales garden), so visitors are in in continuous relation with the garden allowing view relations and using the fairytale garden as another part of the museum.

The proposed building works as a linear volume, it seems as if the built structure embraces the garden and affords protection and privacy to a public space. The garden is a silent place and can be used as an exhibition area and also it can be a place to relax and to enjoy the atmosphere, it is also proposed as an “urban forest”, increasing in some areas the density of trees and working in other areas with a prairie concept. The new building is planned as little houses in a forest in direct connection with the iconic garden that remains the memory of the fairytales

The building is planned in two levels (basement and ground floor). The ground floor houses the exhibition program and the Tinderbox Cultural centre, and the basement houses the common areas (cafe, shop, facilities, etc.) and is proposed as a space carved in the ground, as a cave in the forest.
