For Nice Meridia, we dreamed the encounter between two visions of the city: the landscape and the density. New York comes here to meet Nice, this territory changing. Nice, romantic and baroque city tries morphological rapprochement with New York: the imagination is running …

New York grid and Nice frame, elegant volumes suspended mysterious island in the heart of South scents; slumming European city en route to a future sustainable and harmonious metropolitan.

Between tradition and modernity

Nice is an exemplary city, for its architecture and urban planning, was able to mix very diverse influences: Sardinia, Piedmont, English, Russian, Haussmann, … for our greatest happiness today. Proportions, subtle variations from a large writing clarity, in short the composition of the facades that inhabit the urban fabric, create niçoise identity.

We worked a contemporary writing that refers to this strong identity, with Mediterranean architecture. We worked not for the gesture, but a continuation of a history and a culture made of rigor and simplicity

Think outside the high-rise

We posed the question of the perception of the density by the great height and have considered that it had to offer an image more leads to a favorable response. For this we easily changed the scale ratio by establishing a principle of division of R + 16 volume into three entities separated by two vegetated faults. The proportions of these volumes are calibrated to respond to site surrounding elements:

The first, the «base», is rooted in the site and its inhabitants are like those of traditional urban city. They live in the classic European city; they report a face to face on street and close to the ground of the city, public space, shops; they are also immersed in the wooded heart of the island landscape.

The second, «building roof» is a broken line and scenic roofs that make up the landscape of the hills of Nice. Between frame is skyline views are varied, pop. This intermediate volume is the same height as the social housing building and thus creates a link of scale and writing allowing unity and continuity.

The third, «building in the sky», is atmospheric, he speaks in great scenery and is for those who seek distant views towards the sea, the clouds and the sky.

Horizontality comes to dialogue with the verticality

The «tour» is not one! it became a hybrid building that cleverly plays with the scale reports.

It is a building / island planted, laminate becomes peaceful, and carrying a multiplicity of uses: it arises as a generator, a stimulator of living and living together
