Political and economic changes after 1991 have dramatically influenced the architecture and urban development in Albania. The transition period, except the reflection in architecture, brought a period of changes in the urban planning and territory. Architecture ended up in the hands of ordinary people who are trying to resolve their problems with a low cost, becoming the initiators of «informal eclectic architecture» without identity.

Units emerged in the form of illegal structures everywhere in the public or private lands, mainly on the outskirts of cities and volumes were added spontaneously to the existing buildings in urban areas. This change, also happened to the site of te ongoing competition.It is full of different type of buildings (comercial, residential) which ended on a total urban chaos, and weird silhouette.Well I see albanian informalism fascinating. It is a source for young artists inspiration, which concluded in many expositions.

So what would happen if we do the opposite? Let’s take the gallery where the inspiration is, and different people will have different emotions. I propose to build an outside art center in this site so it may serve as a new point of view. It will be like a great hall with streets and “houses” inside. This is an outdoor art to let you go, to lose yourself, go up or down, go in or out, to meditate and get lost. I don’t won’t to change the buildings, or to destroy them, but just to give them a new artistic view.

And so people would be more connected with art, even if  they are just walking. Inside of it people would experience something different from normal, something that would fill them with emotions. Structures that will be aded to the existing site are:

– 2 metalic roof structures that will unify the informal part of the site,
– spaces for outdoor exposition and installation art,
– multipurpose area for meetings,cinema and artistic shows,
– open gallery between two informal buildings which it will be used for street art paintings
