The square “Puerta del Sol” has an unique history in the city of Madrid. It represents a fundamental legacy for the city, it is the heart of Madrid, the zero kilometer, the geographic center of the country. Yet it has a very modern aura, always at the heart of festive events as Christmas or New Eve. In the other hand, this square is also involved in defending events as the demonstration of the 15th May 2011.

That is why it has a particular commitment of citizens in this area, a part of their memories with a strong symbolic and a soul of the city still alive. This history is not to deny, we must think about the evolution of the place «Puerta del Sol» as a continuity of the life that takes place there. Yet, our major concern is not to make these site into museum, it must correspond to a contemporary vision of the society, this square must evolve according to the needs of the citizens to not loose its representativeness.

These evolutions are therefore not in denial, it is important to understand the history and especially what it means today to create a fair and sustainable project.
