Two integrated entity.
The square and the park, clearly redefining their perimeter in the urban context, emerge as a unique public space.
The form and the program.
The square defines an inner and more intimate space while the park is surrounded by a circuit that conveys pedestrian flows. The program is punctuted by the compression and decompression of spaces, from the sunny or shaded areas, the proximity to roads or not, services, institutions, alternating relaxation areas to areas of activity or events.
The edge of the square is extended to the fronts of the buildings on 4 sides, overcoming the gap created by the Via Emilia. The existing drop is solved with a gentle slope of the pavement of the square, which bends to the level of the shopping arcade.
The 85 stone seats, monument in memory of the victims of the 2nd of August 1980, are the permanent part of the arena for shows. The “platea” can be extended with temporary seats when necessary. The monument is an integral part of the structure of the park and sharing activities that involve him.
