☉ CCCP Centro Cívico Ciudad del Plata is a second prize proposal by Jorge Gambini Pablo Frontini Andrés Capurro and Fabiana Perdomo for CND in 2023. It is located in Ciudad del Plata Uruguay in an urban setting. Its scale is medium with a surface of 1.600 sqm a budget of 2.826.849 € and a ratio of 1.767 €/sqm. Key material is metal.
The characteristics of the place allow you to enjoy an ideal sunshine throughout the year, guaranteeing an extended use of outdoor spaces, with the only condition of including sun and rain protections. This is why the project for the New Civic Center of Ciudad del Plata, is conceived as a kind of στοά (stoa), perhaps one of the simplest and most powerful constructions of antiquity, an elongated space, protected from rain and the sun; which defined by a successive series of porticoes becomes the civic space par excellence.
The large covered gallery is the pedestrian avenue of the project, which unites all the activities of the program, maintaining its complete independence. This organization makes it possible to make the building an architectural infrastructure, capable of hosting Civic and Cultural activities in such a way that its users can design the best way to appropriate it.
The plot has a smooth and continuous slope that descends 2m along the land, which made it possible, by only slightly raising, a part of the building, to solve the entire program in a single, compact and universally accessible body. This topographic configuration of the project, under the protection of a continuous cover, allows to build: a Civic Center on a human scale and a Cultural Space of image and metropolitan scale. An open and vital place where different generations and collectives can come together to celebrate the collective life.
The various programs of the Civic Center are organized based on a structural module of 9 meters in the longitudinal direction and 6 in the transverse direction, generating a useful depth of 18 and a width that can vary according to the functional requirements. This scheme allows you to generate a series of equivalent spaces, topologically differentiated by their height, their relationship with the accesses and their proximity or distance to the Vieja Ruta 1.
This configuration offers maximum freedom of organization when it comes to arranging the different programs of the center, it is even able to absorb without difficulty large changes use and programmatic transformations.
