☉ Enrico Fermi Secondary School is a proposal by Lerua Fabiana Ledda and Riccardo Onnis for Fondazione Agnelli and Compagnia di San Paolo designed in 2017. It is located in Turin Italy in an urban setting. Its scale is medium. Key materials are ceramic and concrete. Francesco Bonanomi collaborated as visualizer. Concepts such as extension and l shape are explored. Review the 3 proposals for the same competition.
The project research investigates the topic of contemporary education: the core idea is to open the school in order to turn it into a public-oriented area able to interact with the community. Therefore, the school shifts from a close system to an open one. The project also triggers a rethinking of the educational institute as a proper public space, absolving either to its fundamental functions and at the same time providing alternative uses according to the community’s needs.
