M.O.A.M. is a proposal by Studio Elementare developed in 2017. It is located in Milan Italy in an urban setting. Its scale is medium.

M.O.A.M. (Milanopenairmuseum) gives an answer to the need of rethinking Piazza Castello and Foro Buonaparte pedestrian area.

The project will transform the monumental dimensions and proportions of the public space into an extended openair museum, dedicated to the celebration and disclosure of Milanese culture.

At the end of the most important and touristic pedestrian axis, different spaces with their different fluxes need a totally new organization that has to integrate them into an unitary urban system.

The strong concept grows from the idea to structure Piazza Castello area exactly like an openair museum, from the square to the entrance, from the foyer to the exposition rooms. A new itinerary that brings the visitors from via Dante and Largo Cairoli to Castello Sforzesco interior courtyard and the to the park.

Thanks to his privileged position, M.O.A.M. has the opportunity to narrate to citizens and tourists stories and curiosities of the city. The openair museum will have a double role in the urban system: on one hand it is the ‘Museum of all museums’ that can redirect the visitor fluxes to the others cultural centres; on the other hand it will be the space for celebrating the cultural excellencesand all the connected figures – that gave fame to the city of Milan.
