The house rests on a base – a plinth – covered with exposed reinforced concrete. As if it is held on a purposely visible foundation, moulded in wooden boards, it gives stability and water tightness to the waters of the river that pass by.

This pedestal then has consequences in the interior and consequently in the functional organization of the house, emerging specific walls that dictate and confine all the services and domestic needs for the living of the house – kitchen, bathroom, fireplace and stairs to access the bedroom on the top floor. The texture of these walls is also made of apparent reinforced concrete as if it were a cohesive organism. In order to rationalize the construction and the consequent economy, the tiny construction inside the house is the continuation of its foundation – later serving as the structure of the room that is confined in the roof.

On top of this construction that emerges from the ground, a wooden structure, sustainable and light, of efficient and ecological purpose protects it. Its material fits in with the landscape, while soaked in colour, it is intended to be in symbiosis with the tonality of the region’s characteristic tiles.

The exterior materiality is reflected in the comfort of the interior environments – this time the natural colour – the wood is rhythmic with the same frequency as the lost moulding of the concrete. Thus, giving rise to a unitary sensation despite the contrasting duality of the characteristics used.

The pedestal extends over the land in order to create a built-up outdoor space that absorbs the environment. It also intends to be a space for possible expansion of the room with which it relates directly. This space is finished off with an outdoor bench to be used for meals or other activities.
