Romanshorn Rathaus is a proposal by Koya Architektur developed in 2024. It is located in Romanshorn Switzerland in an urban setting. Its scale is medium with a surface of 5.200 sqm. Key materials are vegetal and wood. Concepts such as atrium broken volume and central core are explored.

The redesign transforms Sternenplatz from a pocket urban space into a central town square, which is clearly structured and zoned by the new town house and innovative traffic routing. A light-coloured natural stone paving emphasizes the representative function of the square, while a fine shoulder visually highlights the center of the square. Three groups of tall trees create pleasant spatial and visual references and improve the microclimate. Embedded in gravel surfaces and complemented by differentiated seating furniture, quiet places to linger are created, which are further enlivened by tables and benches in front of the restaurant. The townhouse project is optimally accessible and integrates harmoniously into the existing settlement structure of Romanshorn. It mediates between the existing residential buildings and the large-scale volumes along Bahnhofstrasse. The building is divided into two structures and connected by an atrium and two staircase cores, with the first floor acting as a lively meeting point. The timber supporting structure allows for flexible office layouts and the building uses sustainable technologies such as a geothermal probe and PV systems to supply energy.
