Rome Concrete Poetry Hall is an honour mention competition entry by F.A.T. for Beebreeders in 2016. It is located in Rome Italy in an urban setting. Its scale is medium. Key materials are concrete and stone. Review the 2 proposals for the same competition.

The project’s purpose is to realize a sheltered space from the chaos of the area where is located with the intent to create a world apart where people can abstract themselves from the chaotic urban context.

With this idea we decided to build an underground space keeping, on the street level, an area where the tram stops find place. The project’s challenge is to investigate the meaning of innovation in concrete nowadays, particularly in an underground structure.

Leaving apart technological wonders such as  translucent concrete, self consolidating concrete and self-healing concrete, the analysis is focused on how to enhance and get the most out the most primitive and basic properties of concrete as its plasticity and its adaptability to any environment.

In this direction we decide to revise the traditional construction system which provides formwork and waste of materials trying to make it simpler and cheaper.
