A Theatre in Baleal. A cultural destination. A place to celebrate the performance of arts.

A stable design as an answer to the history of the site. Like the Fortress that once stood here, this building also radiates resistance, durability and steadiness. It is a monolithic structure with a simple and clear construction that adapts the scale of the remains of the Baleal Fortress.

The theatre is placed directly within the alignment of the old foundation walls – they cling to the building and fix it on the promontory. The building consists of three square volumes of space, which are strung together. In the middle, the actual theatre is the centre of the building.

The design generates a very centred and introverted space with a focus on the performance itself, but also with specific references to the powerful natural scenery of the ocean and the sky through openings in the building envelope.
