The project consists of two simple compositions of volumes, placed one upon the other. The first comprises two levels rising from the ground like a pedestal. Its shape meets the required alignments and creates very urban façades on a human scale.

The first volume contains all »open to public» functions. On the ground floor are situated the lobbies of two hotels, as well as of the business center, restaurant and the entrance to the apartments. On the first floor there are business center and most of the common areas of the 4* hotel. A huge terrace facing the south-east is located opposite the train station perching above the tram lines and offering generous and sunny exterior spaces to the areas of the 4* hotel.

Above this first urban and rigorous volume, a second volume has been imagined in a more «expressive» manner. Our wish was to assemble other functions of the project (hotel rooms and housing) built along a long continuum that folds several times to finally form a very rich architecture. Thus we find the 4* hotel, then the 3* hotel, and the apartments above them, in height along the train station’ square.

Finally this composition of volumes allows the creation of a huge hollow shape facing south, inlaid between the fold of the first two hotels and the big bridge designed for the apartments. This is a unique, majestic space, remarkably highlighted by other three volumes.

The terrace of the spacious restaurant of the 4* hotel and its breakfast room will now be able to open up to this large urban window both as a very open and sunny panoramic viewpoint and at the same time as an outdoor space capped by the roof of the last volume offering to it a mix of both grandeur and privacy. The terrace will be planted with greenery to become a beautiful garden.

The choice to install the apartments on the highest part of the project was made to give them the most beautiful views on the southern part of the city and over the seaside. On the north side of the building the view spreads over the roofs of the old town of Montpellier.
