☉ The sheltering sky is an honour mention competition entry by David Cirocchi developed in 2022. It is located in Lago di Bolsena Italy in a countryside setting. Its scale is small with a surface of 600 sqm. Key materials are concrete and stone.
The project is located on the shores of Lake Bolsena, Italy, and consists of two concrete slabs, one of which serves as a roof for the pilgrims’ living quarters in this sacred place, while the other is the new roof of the church. The pilgrims’ living spaces overlook internal courtyards, while a large public open space serves as an openair auditorium.
