Volcano Horsemen Retreat is a fifth prize proposal by Alberto Bianchi Pablo Simó and Javier Herrero for Young Architects Competitions designed in 2025. It is located in Hrossaborg Iceland in a volcano setting. Its scale is medium with a surface of 1.200 sqm. Key materials are vegetal and stone. Concepts such as underground courtyard nature circle shape and green roof are explored.

Inspired by Sleipnir, Odin’s mythical steed, the project celebrates horses as noble companions by creating a geological temple in the middle of nature. The retreat lies hidden in a dormant Icelandic volcano, submerging itself to preserve the crater’s majesty as if it were a carved and sculpted stone. A circular central courtyard mirrors the volcano’s form, organizing stables, accommodation and communal areas into a Domus for horses.
