Adana is a fifth prize competition entry by Thomas Laffly developed in 2023. It is located in Bex Switzerland in an urban setting. Its scale is medium with a surface of 8.000 sqm a budget of 50.000.000 € and a ratio of 6.250 €/sqm. Key materials are concrete, brick and wood.

The expansion project of the school and sports and cultural site for the residents of Bex and the valley must provide continuity of natural and living corridors, facilitating the development and migration of present living species, while also considering the continuous expansion of the urban municipality along the Avançon. The advantages offered by the municipality in terms of mobility and connections with neighboring municipalities are taken into account to allow this new facility to enhance the village’s influence at the cantonal level in terms of sports, education, and culture. The placement of the structures aims to redefine the use of the Pré-de-la-Cible site in its accesses and to clarify the boundaries of the different spaces.

Therefore, the program is spread across the entire site to achieve better integration, sometimes integrating into existing buildings for program coherence and to limit soil sealing. To minimize the built volume, new constructions are positioned within the natural slope of the terrain. Their location to the south of the plot delineates a new square that more logically distributes flows to the various activities on the site, with cars no longer having access beyond it.
