Andorra Telecom New Headquarters is a second prize proposal by Altura Arquitectes for Andorra Telecom in 2021. It is located in Andorra la Vella Andorra la Vella in an urban setting. Its scale is small with a surface of 900 sqm. Key materials are metal and wood. Atelier Monolit collaborated as visualizer. Review the 2 proposals for the same competition.

The floor plan of the plot has a trapezoidal shape with the existing building to be preserved in its central part. A plinth is proposed with the public program that occupies the entire plot and from the third floor, since cantilever are allowed, the building recovers an efficient rectangular floor for office space.

In order to not to build on top of the existing building, the strategy is to create a large void. A vegetable atrium in the center of the building that organizes the office program on each side. This biophilic space introduces vegetation to the building and allows cross-views between levels, becoming a space that encourages informal encounters and creativity.

Sustainability is approached not only from the point of view of energy efficiency, but also from the choice of materials taking into account the energy incorporated in the fabrication process. For this reason, priority has been given to healthy materials, wooden structure and recycled materials. It is proposed to use 100% recycled copper on the facade for the history that this material has had in the world of communication and thus contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
