Appartamento Il borgo Sant'ambrogio is a proposal by Tim de Graag developed in 2019. It is located in Modena Italy in a riverside and rural setting. Its scale is small with a surface of 120 sqm. Key materials are wood and plaster.

After the contractor went bankrupt the half-finished earthquake proof structure had lain empty for several years. Before restarting the project we opened up the rather conventional floorplan to create open and light spaces. From the kitchen it is now possible to see an historical bridge by watching straight through the staircase. The central corridor connects the rooms and an open studio offers a flexible space in the building which can be used for relaxing, reading and working. The interior got a bespoke design which will be executed by local craftsmen.
