The most notable aspect of Favigana is that Santa Catarina resides on top of the mountain like a monument. The project aims to create a new form of architecture. A building and an environment at the same time. An ambivalence between the subtle and the monumental. Our intervention transforms the castle into an object, a piece of art created by various people over a long period of time. The proposal will share its space with other, future objects placed on the platform by artists and creators alike. The building is designed as a retreat for the residing artists and offers a place to live, to create and share their respective form of art with each other.
