The resolution of the Competition called by the City Council of Bigues i Riells del Fai within the framework of European PIREP funding. A new life is proposed for this emblematic Masia that welcomes the municipality from the Carretera of Atmella, making it an example of sustainable, healthy and energy-efficient transformation. The proposal emphasizes values such as the preservation of the environment and respect for local heritage, using sustainable materials and passive construction strategies to minimize the ecological impact and preserve the comfort and health of users. The whole is formed by the Masia Can Corominas, an annex, and a large elevated square that is established as a meeting point for users, biodiversity, accessibility and sustainable mobility. The principles of passive architecture are mainly visualized in the insertion of a large thermal diaphragm and improvement of air quality that is formalized with a greenhouse attached to the east facade of the farmhouse, which allows it to adapt to the changes of season and generate a resilient and energy self-sufficient equipment. In winter, the air is heated by the greenhouse effect and circulates towards the interior, a fact that, combined with the high thermal inertia of the stone walls, guarantees constant hygrothermal comfort throughout the day. In the summer, the green facade works as sun protection and the practicable openings allow for cross ventilation in all the rooms. In the attached body, the incorporation of a bioclimatic pergola and a trombe wall guarantee the quality of the interior environment and harmony with the surroundings.
