Europan 17: Trondheim is a second prize competition entry by Alberto Roncelli Nicole Vettore and Nathan Baudoin for Europan in 2023. It is located in Trondheim Norway in a park setting. Its scale is medium with a surface of 6.000 sqm. Key material is wood.

The challenge was to develop an area which has strong ecological values as well as a beautiful natural setting for a sensitive urban refill with a nursing home and housing, in Trondheim, Norway. Our project introduces a subtle approach towards the landscape with a clear phasing strategy, capitalising on the existing qualities. The nursing home is fragmented into four distinct volumes to decrease the scale and to preserve the integration between architecture and nature that exists on the site today. today. The kitchens and living rooms of each group develop towards the south, with ample access to natural light and unobstructed views over the landscape of Østmarka and the hills of Trondheim on the horizon. A generous corridor to the north connects the three volumes and thanks to its transparency offers deep immersion with the forest and the green corridor to the north. The corridor offers social spaces, seating and aims to promote movement and access to nature for patients who are more unable to move.
