The project is set in a small village on the North-East coast of lake Balaton. The plot is located on top of the high limestone cliff from where the view of the Balaton is beautiful. The local area is diverse and not so characteristic from an architectural point of view, therefor in the concept design phase I didn’t have to consider this.

The client wanted a new residental house with four rooms and a living area furthermore a terrace with a view of the panorama. In order to comply with the local architectural rules, I had to divide these functions as levels. The terrain is gradually increasing towards the edge of the cliff therefor, I raised the terrace by half level for the best view. Due to this design move I could put the garage and engineering room under the terrace, and I did all the requirements which were important for my client in the field of functions.

I attempted to design a clear building shape during the concept phase. I differentiated between the ground and the first floor, because I wanted to show the ground floor like a leftover natural shape on which the new contemporary pavilion can be found. That is why I applied limestone like local natural material on the ground floor façade, whereas on the first floor the cladding was designed by me from anodised aluminium elements. The anodised aluminium is slightly reflective, therefor this façade is able to reflect the nature.
