The W 2020 Prize, for its ninth edition, invited candidates to rethink the Château de la Tour d´Aigues (Lubéron-Vaucluse) around the theme «Wine & Gastronomy». New perspective for a precious culinary terroir, the project is generating a new territorial dynamic as part of a strategy to enhance and transmit the viticulture and culinary know-how embodied by this major architectural figure.

This architectural couture draws its inspiration from the original volumes of the castle, organized around the central courtyard. The extension extracts its materials within the territory: stone and cedar from the Luberon. The mineral aspect draw a continuity with the material present on the site, the differentiation of eras being made by their implementation. The stone, by its qualities of inertia inscribes this architecture in a spirit of durability and comfort. The dungeon, the culmination of the product transformation process, is the apotheosis of the experience: tasting. It is haloed by a contemporary intervention, the only testimony of the contemporary architectural extension from the distance.
