☉ Masterplan for Port Vell is an academic project by Albert Clèries for ETSA Barcelona designed in 2010. It is located in Barcelona Spain in a seaside setting. Its scale is extralarge with a surface of 800.000 sqm. The concept of urban transformation is explored.
A primary design move was to strip away the World Trade Center Area, bringing Moll de Barcelona water line backward, and placing Jaume I tower on the forefront. The tower would then recover its original territory ‘leadership’. Secondly, the project continued on Manuel de Solà-Morales idea to transform Moll d’Espanya into an island to recover Moll de la Fusta recent past activities. All the recreational current uses (Maremagnum, Aquarium, IMAX …) were transferred to other parts of the city. The last step was continuing Poble Sec urban structure to the west harbour shoreline, defining a new Port façade.
