Palatium is a selected competition entry by Federico Calabrese and Roberto Cacciapuoti for Sara Hilden Foundation and City of Tampere in 2021. It is located in Tampere Finland in an urban and park setting. Its scale is medium with a surface of 6.088 sqm. Key material is concrete. Review the 10 proposals for the same competition.

The proposal provides for the creation of a large shared space plateau, between pedestrians and cars. It will be the central element of this mainly pedestrianized urban system. The location of the building and its strong compactness in plan generates a square between Fynlaisoninkatu street and Kuninkaankatu street. The architecture of the museum pursues a logic of unity and formal compactness. It looks like a 28×28 square base block with a height of 35 meters. The building follows the compositional logic of a palatium of classical architecture: base, a central body, and a crowning.
