Rixheim's after-school is a proposal by rhb architectes for Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération in 2017. It is located in Rixheim France in an urban setting. Its scale is medium with a surface of 1.085 sqm a budget of 2.415.000 € and a ratio of 2.226 €/sqm. Key material is wood. Luce atelier collaborated as visualizer.

Rixheim’s after-school care centre is located very close to the schools. With its contemporary forms, the building reinterprets traditional wooden cladding to create a new architectural style that will be appreciated by both local residents and future users of the extra-curricular centre. The accesses are clearly identifiable and identified, to ensure the safety of the pupils and avoid creating conflicts of use. The sliding of the two volumes asserts the entrance to the site, directing flows towards the interior of the project. The hall, a real distribution core, is a shared meeting space, making each of the project’s spaces identifiable and allowing them to be appreciated. At the end of this hall, the green landscape in the background is revealed, leading young and old ones to their respective courtyard spaces. It is also from this hall that it is possible to guess, through this central opening, the presence of the elementary afterschool upstairs, accessible from the main staircase.
