The proposed ensemble of two new volumes completes another block of the newly developed district, (Neu)-Pasing. Given the prominent location, right at the district’s entry, the ensemble undertakes its role as an urban prelude, through a combination of independent buildings with a high charisma that simultaneously fit into the mixed urban fabric of different typologies.

A dialog is established between each of the residential buildings and their direct surroundings, resorting to a formal language that responds to different urban situations. A total of 83 apartments with different typologies occupy the upper floors, while the ground floors offer spacious areas for the various commercial users, restaurants or local suppliers. The social and dynamic atmosphere that is here desired is enhanced by the presence of an arcade, and it contrasts with the intimacy and quiet that is wished for the inner area of the block. In turn, this is to be a more quiet and protected space for the residents, of collective rather than public domain, that offer green areas, trees and a playground for children.

The two residential buildings are to be built in a timber construction system, complemented by recycled concrete elements – both offering the possibility of resorting to a high degree of prefabrication. Renewable raw materials are to be used as far as possible and the deconstruction and reuse of the individual building materials should be ensured (circular economy). The conscious selection of building materials and production methods, allied to the different efforts of reducing CO2 are part of a comprehensive concept that seeks to deliver a climate-neutral architectural project.
