Triel-sur-Seine is a proposal by AHA Atelier Herbez Architectes for Groupe Arcade designed in 2013. It is located in Triel-sur-Seine France in an outskirt setting. Its scale is medium with a surface of 3.128 sqm an estimated budget of 4.400.000 € and a ratio of 1.407 €/sqm. Key materials are plaster and wood. Concepts such as new development and sloped roof are explored.

The site is situated in a suburban area at the gates of the city of Triel-sur-Seine. The immediate environment is semi-rural, and principally composed of undeveloped lands, single-family houses and traditional buildings, bordered by significant road infrastructures. Aside from creating new dwellings, the aim of this project is to invigorate the neighborhood and to reinforce its connection with the rest of the city. A way to create dynamic living areas has been to mix different types of dwellings, either collective, semi-collective or single-family housing. The design of local farmhouses, which are long-lasting cocoon-shape buildings, is the starting point of our reflection. We have reinterpreted this traditional architectural form in order to come up with a contemporary project. The project is based on the plurity of volumes and used materials. The U-shaped buildings of the project reproduce the cocoon shape of the farmhouses. Crossing entrance halls form bright openings through the buildings, giving the project its contemporary touch.
