Guggenheim Helsinki is a proposal by Alban Gueho for Guggenheim Foundation in 2014. It is located in Helsinki Finland in a seaside setting. Its scale is medium with a surface of 12.000 sqm. Key material is glass. Concepts such as monolith and transparency are explored. Review the 21 proposals for the same competition.

The Helsinki Guggenheim Museum proposed site is located on under-utilized docks of the Etelasatama South Harbour. The site is caught between key areas such as the Market Square, the Tahititornin Vuori Park and the Olympia Terminal. We judge important to redefine this pedestrian- hostile environment currently occupied by parking lots and storage warehouses to interconnect the different abutting areas and restore a human scale on this former industrial waterfront. Our first intention is to work with the surroundings, connect the different neighborhoods, create perspectives towards the sea and a strong new vibrant landmark. An iconic building that structures the urban fabric guides the local inhabitants and attracts the tourists.
